As if the 49ers haven’t have enough tough breaks lately their only healthy WR turns out to be a scam.

A dude pretended to be a 49ers Wide Receiver as a social media scam and managed to defraud multiple women out of 1.3 million dollars.

Honestly, for anyone who knows ball, his fraud was pretty clear. He would mimic the kinds of posts NFL players make. Pictures of himself training, working, catching passes. He’d have images of himself living the lifestyle. To anyone just throwing a glance his way or to anyone not into the sport, he could pass.

To you and me he is obvious. He’s in good shape, but not NFL shape. The videos of him arm-catching passes do not show a level of NFL skill. NFL players don’t walk around taking pictures in public in their NFL gear. He bought a quality 49ers helmet at some point and that seemed to be his key to looking the part.

Of course, we are football nerds. We can spot the fake. It’s like how anyone who spends a lot of time online can spot AI slop with relative ease but your boomer mom can’t. However, as a PSA, NFL players are very easy to confirm. Mina Kimes pointed this out, but you can just… Google player names. ESPN and dozens of other databases have extensive records of every athlete to ever make a team and all their stats. A simple check will confirm.

Note: do not trust the AI overview that Google has added, because that thing sucks ass and is wrong all the time. It said Love was a player because he faked it enough to trick the system. Go to a real database.
