No Offense, Vikings Fans
The Vikings defense is elite. They have the potential to go down as one of those “named” defenses if they keep it up and win it all.
At this rate though, they ain’t winning it all. Because the other side of the ball is an atrocity. No matter what metric you use to judge, you’ll find the Minnesota Vikings hanging out in the bottom slots of any offensive list like a delinquent kid smashing bottles in the alley behind the combination KFC/Tacobell. It’s a tragedy because you know that kid. You’ve seen him at his best. You know he has the potential to be great. But he just…isn’t. Someone who could be somebody and get outta this crappy town is going to end up hooked on meth and working the local gas station counter just like his deadbeat mom.
What’s most irritating is they don’t need to be great. They may not even need to be good. Mid might be enough, provided trajectories stay on target. Look at the Seahawks last year: Darnold wasn’t actually all that amazing and the running game was fine. But it was good enough. Give mediocrity enough chances and they will score points. The Vikings could have been that team. Darnold is proving himself to be a Star WR merchant (First JJ, now JSN). Darnold level play could obliterate the current league with this defense. Instead, we got…Kyler.
Kyler seemed like an upgrade to everybody. Maybe not a surefire win, but compared to the Nine/Wentz/Brosmer horror show of 2025 he seemed like an easy step up. He has been a disaster. To be clear, there is a lot of blame to go around. The offensive line. KOC’s playcalling. But Kyler is a waste. He’s timid. He’s inaccurate. He’s slow to process. He has wide-open guys and some of the best guys to throw to even when they aren’t open and he will take a sack instead. The Kyler experiment is a failure. Bench him, trade him, start someone else, because if you want to give him a chance right after GTA6 comes out, that’s on you.
As of right now he has been potentially soft-benched like McCarthy was. He is dealing with a hamstring pull and Wentz might be getting the call. Wentz is washed up but he at least knows that you gotta throw balls to Jettas. McCarthy, who has played good football in his 5 quarters of play so far for New York, is gone. He might become another example of mishandling the QB by the Vikings. What options do they have left? Who is a potential trade partner? Jacoby Brissett? Tyrod? The Dumpy? Shedeur?
I am rooting for anything. I want the Vikings to succeed. I do not want this defense to be wasted. I want the Vikings to grab a championship with Flores because it’s very likely this is his final year as DC. I just want Vikings fans to be happy. I know that’s too much to ask as it goes against the laws of the universe, but who are you to tell me how to dream?

With some other long-time title droughts getting snapped this year (Brewers & Knicks), now might be the time for Minnesota. As a Dolphins fan who misses Flores (It’s pretty clear the only reason he got fired was because he didn’t want to tank, and Stephen Ross is a racist dumbass).
Also, if Minnesota does flame out in the wild card round again like the year they had Darnold, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Minnesota fire KOC and replace him with Flores just to keep that defense intact like the Bucs did when they fired Lovie Smith to keep Dirk Koetter so Jameis would have the same O-coordinator in Year 2 has he did as a rookie.
Vikings did this before. In 1969 they had Joe Kapp, who was a horrible thrower (he once noted that all other QBs used the laces to grip the ball and help theow a spiral but he did not).. but a great leader. They had an awesome defense and won an NFL championship before losing Superbowl IV pre-merger.
Vikings Brass decided that wasn’t good enough so they let him walk and went with dentist named Gary Cuozzo. And some other backup level qbs. That defense in 1970 and 1971 was elite, with Alan Page even winning MVP as a defensive lineman (a feat never since repeated… only one other defensive player has won MVP, LT at Linebacker)… ThT tram was good enough to crush their division and using outdoor weather as an aid in home games rolled into the playoffs where they promptly got upset each year. Finally after 3 years they traded back for a former QB (Tark) and after some injury setbacks went to 3 more superbowls in 4 years… but their defense had already peaked by then. The Steelers, Dolphins and Raiders had passed them ny the defensively. They were good enough to make it, not win it.
So now.. they can once again attempt to trade for a former QB (Cousins, Jones) and see if they can do this before its too late.
NFL Films peaked with clips of Joe Kapp deciding to play like a fullback set to the booming sounds of Sam Spence’s score.
R if you guys aren’t using Jettas well take him for free
Packers wont trade Tyrod in the division, lol
Of teams yet to win a Vince, I want the two remaining NFC North sides in the Conference game to do it. Either of those I would be happy with taking it all. One for McMuscles because I miss him, the other for Flores to cram it down Goodell (and Ross)’s throat as he Neon Deion highsteps it into any HC job he wants.
Maybe we can convince QBs coach Josh Mccown to put the helmet back on, he’s only three years older than rivers.
Frankly it would be really funny to fire KOC and upgrade Flores to head coach; KOC clearly doesn’t cut it as a coach and a Flores/Johnson division rivalry would rule.
Give Kyler a break, a new Modern Warfare just came out.
