Annoying Boy Is A Steeler Now
Finally ripped the damn bandaid off and got on with it. Took long enough. Not like everyone who follows the NFL couldn’t see this signing coming from fucking space.
There was simply no other option for Rodgers that made any sense unless he wanted to retire. The Rams? They played some games but never actually wanted to move on from Stafford. The Vikings? Where he wanted to go? They are committed to starting McCarthy this year and don’t want to put off his development for another season behind some 40 year old weirdo who will not mentor him. The big issue for Rodgers was finding a team that needed a quarterback but could also win now. Rodgers is old, he doesn’t want to rebuild. He wants to win one more chip. The Giants, Saints, Browns, Raiders…messes all. The only team that fit the mold was Pittsburgh. They have a good defense, they have pieces on offense, they just haven’t had a QB worth a damn since the last few good years of Fat Benjamin.
So instead of signing with the only true choice he had he did what he does and wasted our time making everything about him. It didn’t work this time. Nobody cared. WHAT MIGHT RODGERS DO we know what he’s going to do he’s going to be a Steeler or (less likely) retire. He held out through the draft. He held out through camp. He finally decided to sign on a dead part of the year so he could wrap up all those juicy headlines only to get his precious attention sniped by Musk and Trump having a feud with each other on social media. It is what Rodgers deserves. He doesn’t deserve our attention. I debated not even making a comic about him just to stop giving him air, but this is a massive dead zone for material and frankly making fun of Rodgers is very easy and fun.
If his tenure with the Jets didn’t happen I’d like the move for Pittsburgh but now I’m not sure what Rodgers brings to the table anymore. Is he really that much better than washed up Russ last year? I guess maybe? A little? He’s going to actually have to work with what Pittsburgh has instead of trying to mold the roster to his liking. I thought the Jets were a team ready to take a step forward when Rodgers showed up and he made them worse. Pittsburgh is in pretty much the same spot. Great defense, and pieces to make a good offense. Needs a QB. They got an old guy well past his prime but with an ego larger than most.
My guess is the same old shit for Pittsburgh. Win a bunch of games early and look good, stumble into a 9-10 win season and get unceremoniously wiped out by a better team in the wildcard round. Rodgers will have good games. He will have a few bad games that we will point to and go “this loss is on him” as he throws DK Metcalf under the bus or something. He will mostly be unremarkable. The funniest possible result would be Rodgers being so ass that Tomlin’s impossible streak of non-losing seasons comes to an end. I wouldn’t hold out hope though.
Have fun with the most annoying boy, Pittsburgh. Put some armed guards around the Cathedral of Learning so that he doesn’t try to burn it down.
Never thought I would hate any QB more than Cutler, but here we are.
I am SO glad my audio apps lost ESPN Radio a few months back, because this stream of endless bullshit would have turned me off faster than a Playboy centerfold of Nora Batty.
What are the odds on Tomlin’s first sub-.500 season?
I’m curious how deep into November will the drumbeat to start Will Howard from the fanbase become too hard to ignore.
You know a move is really bad when even the hardcore Yinzers are pissed about it. Everyone in the city saw it coming but there was a faint hope that the Steelers were going to pull their offer and just see what happens with Rudolph/Howard, because at least in that scenario there’s a chance for some extreme result to happen (either both are so bad that team actually sucks for once and they can initiate a proper rebuild or Will Howard actually proves he’s a franchise QB). With Rodgers, they quite literally went back and did the exact same thing as last year with Russ, and locked themselves into another 9/10 win season and early playoff exit or close miss.
I guess I’ll get another year of entertaining radio to listen to, though. Maybe even more so than last year since Rodgers will absolutely ruffle a lot of feathers around here, on and off the field.
Well, now I’m almost glad I get so few Steelers games each year so I can pretend I don’t care about them for one year and pick back up in 2026.
Send help. At least last year our mediocre QBs were likable.
Man, you know it’s bad when people calling corny Russ “likable”.
Well, a bread sandwich is better tasting than a shit sandwich.
Exactly, this is is like last year but drama turned up to 11
Has anyone seen Sixburgh since the signing?
Like UrinatingTree’s loss of sanity, so are the Days of Our Steelers…

I could hear him screaming when it happened, all the way from wherever in PA he lives (guessing it’s in or near P-burg) and I live in NW Ohio
Cannot wait for the Vikings-Steelers game in Dublin, going to have so much fun watching him fail while drinking Guinness until my head splits open. Hoping he has a long, miserable and final season and that he gets benched again. Tragic clown.
Drugged-out Rodgers not knowing how to spell “licensed” is a good touch. Even if it might not be deliberate. 😛
I still feel that Rodgers’ best move would have been to just wait til mid-season, then join the team of a contender who loses their starting QB. He wouldn’t have to play as many games to get into the playoffs. He’s better than a backup QB. The team would clearly want him. He’d get to feel like a hero, saving the season.
I guess it’s a gamble of whether or not any contenders lose their starting QB. But on the flip side, there’s a chance that multiple do and he gets to pick between a couple of options.
final daydream panel feels weirdly likely to happen anyway, what with the way Captain Chaos is intent on steering the Titanic directly into the iceberg…
Who is the Jets guy with a brick for a head?
I was wondering that too. That just goes to show Dave is usually really good at caricatures, since I’ve never had to ask that before.
That’s Brick Johnson. He’s the 18 year old son of Woody Johnson (owner of the Jets), and there was an article in the Atlantic last season about Woody making decisions based on Brick’s input, like not trading for Jerry Jeudy because his Madden rating wasn’t very high. And after last season, Aaron joked about getting cut by Brick when he was on the Pat McAfee show.
It’s Brick Johnson, Woody Johnson’s kid
Is this family serious? Will Brick be naming his first born Concretey?
Straw, to complete the circle, and have the big bad wolf huff and puff.
Guilty – I actually enjoy Rodgers antics. Do I want him on my team? No. But the league goes well with such a punchable smartass QB like Rodgers around.
If you ends up jinxing this and the Steelers does indeed wins the Superb Owl, you should do a collab with UT if he makes another season of that soap opera.
