HERE YOU GO! ALL THE FIRST ROUNDERS!
god the Giants are stupid
As per usual, players will be added to the page over the weekend as everyone I had in reserve get added
TIL you got Babybel in the Americas
Imho the Giants tradeup does make sense tho, they would have drafted 34th in the second round right after the Browns and there is a snowballs chance in hell Dart would have made is past the Browns. This part is now hindsight but it seems to confirm my thoughts at least: after the Giants traded up the Rams drafting right after them ALSO traded down with the Falcons and speculation was that the Rams might go QB to sit and develop behind Stafford. So Dart would have gone to LA leaving the Browns to draft Shedeur and leaving the Giants with a gaping hole at QB and no more options in this years draft (or at least only options that would have been even MORE risky than gambling on Dart with a relatively minor tradeup)
Also I cant wait for the Ashton Jeanty dumptruck comic, did you see the cake on that guy? Cpt.Kirk is gettin some real competition https://old.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/1k789ds/highlight_ashton_jeanty_reacts_backstage_after/
I feel nothing either way. People freaked out when the Giants traded the kitchen sink to get Eli, that worked out alright. People freaked out when the Giants drafted Daniel Jones, that worked out alr – that did not work out alright.
If Russell is competent and Dart legitimately just gets to sit and learn this year, he has a good chance of hitting the ground running next season.
If losses start piling up and Schoen’n’Daboll start getting desperate and chuck him into the fire, yea… kid is screwed. I do agree with German-NFL-Fan, Dart is possibly not there if you just sit and wait, and with a QB, that’s not a chance you take. And if they want to survive past this season, you NEED a QB to develop behind the 2 Ws.
It MIGHT be another colossal draft failure, but it’s obviously far too soon to tell. Not long ago getting Kayvon and Evan Neal were viewed as a can’t-lose bet, and well… that blew up in our faces.
It agree, it’s very good that Dart will get to sit for his rookie year and learn behind Russ. Hopefully he’ll pick up some good habits and not too many bad ones. Also, we didn’t give up much to move up and grab him, so even if he doesn’t work out we’re not screwed next year. Luckily even folks who don’t think Dart will work out agree the trade was good for us. Hopefully he works out.
Exactly, the Giants have screwed up so many 1st round picks, it’s basically like a freebie, lol. I don’t know how good a teacher Wilson is, but he knows what it’s like to win and lose the biggest games, so the potential is there. I just hope they start out with enough wins that Dart can stay on the bench and develop without the immediate pressure. I don’t expect much of a playoff push with Wilson, but at least being in the hunt until December would be nice.
I could 100% see Dart as someone that Russ loves to teach.
Honestly I think this draft went about as well as could be hoped for the Giants. Carter is absolutely whom they should have grabbed at 3, they barely gave up anything to get Dart at 25 (and the Rams almost certainly would have grabbed him at 26 to sit/learn from Stafford if they hadn’t). And some of round 3 and up picks seem like good values as well.
Doddamit tomlin
Wanted the Bills to take Jihaad Campbell because all of the potential McDermott jokes you could make with that
Totally happy with the Hairston pick though, he should be a great CB. Having to start Elam last year led to our defense having an obvious weak spot. White should hypothetically fix that, but he’s not a long term solution by any means. Hairston could be
The giants are stupid, but please tell don’t tell me you wanted sheduer
I did not, would rather have Dart
Dig the cheese cards, some of your best work yet.
Honestly, boring draft. No real shocks, unless you count the Giants being dumb. But that’s really not a shock, is it? Love the cheese cards, fun idea even if I’m a Vikings fan.
Not really getting the Giants hate tbh. Carter was probably the first or second best player in the entire draft and Schoen and Daboll clearly wanted their guy and he wasn’t gonna be there at 34. I feel way better about Dart getting to sit behind Wilson and Winston for a year or two as opposed to ‘maybe’ getting one of the top guys next year or getting some project guy later in the draft this year. Maybe I’m a fool for still believing in this regime but I’m not gonna sit here calling the end of the world before we even see this play out in an actual game.
I don’t, either. I’m not gonna pound my chest and declare them to be geniuses, but if RGIII is calling you dumb, you must be doing SOMETHING right, cuz that guy’s head is full of pebbles.
They didn’t give up that much to move up for Dart, and after seeing how much NOBODY wants Sanders, I think it’s absolutely likely he’d have been gone at 34.
They still might fail epically, but I’m with you, seems silly to get worked up about it until we actually see what happens on the field.
RG3’s criticism makes no sense. Schoen/Daboll aren’t really in “Win Now” mode, maybe win a bit more than 3 games this year mode but that’s not the same thing. It’s mainly a show some progress and keep developing the core mode. Dart will mainly just sit and learn rather than get rushed in too soon. If Daboll thinks he can develop Dart he now has two seasons to do it, and has Wilson (and to a lesser and less direct sense Winston) to help him do it.
Meanwhile the Defense is vastly better, and if it isn’t an outright strength next year Shane Bowen should get kicked out of the NFL.
All right, welcome to the Denver Broncos PJ Harvey. Not sure what she’s gonna bring to the table besides music that can chill the other team to the bones, but…
Hope you cover the Shadeur Sanders free fall. At least he is will be more liked than the Browns starting QB and has no pressure to win.
