Kaep the gentleman
That Kaepernick story was stupid from the start and sometimes I wonder if people are out to vilify the guy. It’s already blown over by the time I write this (I wish it had blown over 6 hours ago before I STARTED the comic) and it’s a complete non-story. TMZ really went for the scummy headline on this one, considering that apparently the woman only couldn’t remember 25 minutes and during that time one of the 3 players involved called 911. No charges, nothing. A complete non-story. Now all those stupid fans who love to call him a thug have to shut up and wait for the next moment to strike.
Frankly I’m more alarmed Kaep was chilling with a Seahawks player. What kind of crazy NFC West incest is going on there, buddy boy
Ricardo Lockette was a Niner when they lost to Baltimore and was rooming with Kaep. Kinda makes sense?
Ah, so that’s the connection. Thank you.
The story itself seems like a reach. Reading the details, nothing jumped out at me except that he was hanging out with a Seahawks player. It’s too bad Crabtree or Sherman weren’t there. This whole ordeal would be a lot more interesting then.
Honestly, I think the reason it was so overblown is I think the guy rubs a lot of people the wrong way. He seems kind of cocky, which most players are, but you look at a guy like Tom Brady and even though I hate Tom Brady, he doesn’t seem cocky or arrogant, he seems to have a sort of quiet confidence that he knows he’s going to be the best out there to him. Same for Peyton, or Rodgers, or even other young QBs like Wilson. By comparison, Kaep – and also RG3, especially after how poorly he handled this last season – seems more arrogant and self-aggrandizing.
Not to mention you can debate how good he is after how much he struggled without Crabtree last year(Not that he’s a nobody, but not the transcendent guy people acted like he was)
Not a hater, just not a huge fan and trying to explain the rationale.
I get the exact opposite impression of Brady to be completely honest. He’s waaaaay more subtle about it than Kaep is, but to me, he comes off as an arrogant sonofabitch in interviews.
Rodgers is fairly humble guy though… kinda goes with whatever, isn’t afraid of making a fool of himself (that one discount double check commercial where he’s in a fat suit doing a bears superfan impression in a dream), and just goes out and does his job on game day.
Tom Brady. Love the guy. But he is pretty arrogant. When he first met Robert Kraft he said that drafting him was the decision he ever made. Pretty arrogant for a 7th Round Pick. Turn out he was right though.
Russell Wilson actually said the same thing to Pete Carroll when he was drafted. But then when he was up on stage for the trophy presentation at the Super Bowl he was thanking Pete and John Schnieder for the opportunity so I’d say it’s more an expression of confidence rather than arrogance.
I didn’t have a problem with that type of statement. That’s confidence there.
The difference between confidence and arrogance is that with other SB-champion quarterbacks (Brees, Wilson, both Mannings, etc), they are much more reserved in their personal lives, often giving much of their free time to charity or running passing academies for aspiring children, and more generally showing on some level that they are grateful for the opportunity to do what millions could only dream of. Brady, on the other hand, spends most of his time flaunting fashion styles with Gisele.
Maybe I’m way off-base. Maybe Gisele turned Brady into what we know him as today. Maybe it was just early success that went to his head. But Brady is not someone that I would want to emulate in life.
Haha! Sound so right of Kaep. To be honest, I never believed it. It seems too out of character. Just someone attention grabbing and his name was the first at the top of her head.
Loved that you put “Crabs” and “VD” on there! This was a huge non-story, and I still overreacted as a Niners fan myself. Hope that the players’ reputation isnt too wrecked by this.
…does it say Sexy Rexy on their uniforms?
